Pharmacist in Charge: Gail Vaughn, RPh
Gail Vaughn spent her formative years in Salem, MO, a rural community in south central Missouri. After high school she attended the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Pharmacy. She entered their Provisional Program for High School students who graduate at the top of their class in 1987. Gail graduated from UMKC with Honors and a Bachelor's of Science in Pharmacy degree in 1992.
Gail's first job was as an Assistant Manager with Super-D drugstores in Springfield Missouri. In 1993 Gail and her husband Davin became partners of Carthage Pharmacy Services, Inc. in Carthage Missouri and the Vaughn’s moved closer to their new business. Gail then became the Manager of Family Pharmacy in Neosho Missouri while Davin ran Carthage Pharmacy Services, Inc.. The Vaughn’s later decided to open Mount Vernon Professional Pharmacy in Mt. Vernon Missouri. Gail was the Manager of Mt. Vernon Professional Pharmacy for 10 years. In July of 2002 the Vaughn’s purchased McShane Drug in Mount Vernon, MO from Dave Eden. In 2006, the Vaughn’s combined Mount Vernon Professional Pharmacy and McShane Drug to form a single pharmacy named Mount Vernon HomeTown Pharmacy.
Gail's Professional affiliation, honors and service appointments include: Active Member of Missouri Pharmacy Association, 1996-present; MPA Distinguished Young Pharmacist of the Year-2002; Drug Topics National Award for “Pharmacist Making a Difference,” Gail has also served as the President of the Mount Vernon Chamber of Commerce.

The concept behind Carthage Pharmacy Services, Inc. stores developed from a simple desire: bring together the benefits of a small, independently owned community pharmacy with the efficiency of a larger, well-managed company to improve the way retail pharmacy is practiced today.
The owners, Davin and Gail Vaughn are both registered pharmacists who know the importance of patient-driven, customer oriented community pharmacy service. During college, each of them worked together for a local small chain drug store in Kansas City, and was taught ways to be successful and yet remain true to their community pharmacy roots. After graduation from pharmacy school both owners honed their business skills running successful independent retail pharmacies. Today, Carthage Pharmacy Services, Inc. owns and operates 2 independent retail pharmacies in Missouri. One store has the HomeTown Pharmacy name and the other store is Wilkinson Pharmacy in Carthage, MO. “These locations allow our company to supply the individual needs of our customer base by providing not only full service prescription services at each location, but also a full-line of over-the-counter selections, Home Medical Equipment, Medication Therapy Management programs, acceptance of most insurance programs, in-town delivery service, candles and 1-hour photo services.” said Gail.

- The Pharmacy Department dispenses prescription medications and related products.
- The Over-the-Counter or (OTC) Department is a combination of traditional OTC products, i.e., aspirin, cough and cold preparations, first aid supplies and diabetic supplies.
- The Photo Department (in two of our locations) offers one-hour photo processing, enlargements, and a complete line of photo accessories and gifts as well as passport photos.
- The (DME) Durable Medical Equipment Department is a combination of traditional Medical Equipment combined with and everyday line of braces, splints, canes and bathing Necessities as well as diabetic shoes and other product lines.
- The Gift/Candle Department is combined with a full line of scented candles and gifts of all sorts.
