Carthage Pharmacy Services, Inc.

The concept behind Carthage Pharmacy Services, Inc. stores developed from a simple desire: bring together the benefits of a small, independently owned community pharmacy with the efficiency of a larger, well-managed company to improve the way retail pharmacy is practiced today.

The owners, Davin and Gail Vaughn, are both registered pharmacists who know the importance of patient-driven, customer oriented community pharmacy service. While attending college, each of them worked together for a local small chain drug store in Kansas City, and were taught ways to be successful, yet remain true to their community pharmacy roots. After graduation from pharmacy school both owners honed their business skills operating successful independent retail pharmacies. Today, Carthage Pharmacy Services, Inc. owns and operates two independent retail pharmacies in Missouri – Mt. Vernon HomeTown Pharmacy and Wilkinson Pharmacy. The two locations cater to the individual needs of their customer base by providing full service prescription services at each location, a full-line of over-the-counter medication selections, Home Medical Equipment, Medication Therapy Management services, acceptance of most insurance programs, in-town delivery service, and candles.

The success of Carthage Pharmacy Services is due to Davin and Gail’s commitment to customer service and employee empowerment. Come see for yourself -- let HomeTown Pharmacy be your "HomeTown" Pharmacy.

Mt. Vernon Pharmacy

Mt. Vernon HomeTown Pharmacy was formed when McShane Drug Co., formerly located at 1319 South Landrum, and Mt. Vernon Professional Pharmacy, formerly located at 104 East Mt. Vernon Boulevard, combined under one roof at 606 East Mt. Vernon Boulevard. Mt. Vernon Professional Pharmacy, Davin and Gail’s first pharmacy, was originated and opened in 1997. The Vaughn’s purchased McShane Drug on July 1st, 2002 from Dave Eden. Today, Mt. Vernon HomeTown Pharmacy, at its existing location, offers more services and better parking as well as easier access for all patients.

Wilkinson Pharmacy

Jerry Wilkinson purchased Davidson Pharmacy from Don Davidson in 1991 and changed the name to Wilkinson Pharmacy. Wilkinson Pharmacy was purchased from Jerry Wilkinson on September 1st, 1993 by Carthage Pharmacy Services, Inc. Wilkinson Pharmacy remained at 1515 Hazel St in the Medical Building until June 6th, 2011. Since 1939 an independently owned retail pharmacy with a drive-thru window had existed at that location. We believe this could be the 1st drive-thru pharmacy in America.

In 2003, Wilkinson Pharmacy added more square footage to the 1515 Hazel location in order to provide more work area in the pharmacy department.

As business grew, Wilkinson Pharmacy once again needed more space. On June 6th, 2011 Wilkinson Pharmacy moved to 2017 South Garrison. This 4000 foot space allows Wilkinson Pharmacy to provide more services to our patients. With this move came the addition of a Respiratory Therapist to manage our growing Home Oxygen and CPAP business. Our larger showroom allows us to display more merchandise such as, wheelchairs, walkers, hospital beds, scooters, ostomy supplies, diabetic shoes, CPAP masks, and a much larger selection of over-the-counter items. We have included an exam room for diabetic shoe fitting, flu shots. This room can also be used for meetings diabetic and ostomy groups.
